My good friend Sally Stephenson asked me to produce a book cover for her debut novel Wildflowers (a YA war/romance/lesbian). I’ve uploaded the pictures at each stage so you can see the development.

Sally had a good say in what she wanted and together we bounced ideas around. She chose the final colour and font. Originaly I wanted the girls to have eyes to show individuality but when I took them away I realised that’s exactly what they do in concentration camps – it made them anonymous. You can see the symbolism of the poppies – dead they symbolise destruction and the one they’re holding shows hope and new life. I had loads of fun weaving all the different symbols into the cover and hope to do this again!
